As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, Château La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc 2023 has been released at €432 per bottle ex-négociant, down 10.0% on the 2022 release (€480).
It is being offered by the international trade for £5,220 per 12×75, down 9.4% on the 2022’s opening price (£5,760 per 12×75).

Critical response
Neil Martin (Vinous) awarded the wine a barrel score of 93-95 points. Though he ‘errs towards the more nuanced Haut-Brion Blanc’, he says this wine will ‘provide immediate pleasure over the next 20 years’.
According to Antonio Galloni (Vinous) this ‘very soft-textured white impresses with understatement and class’. He gave a score of 92-94 points.
Jane Anson gave the wine a score of 96 points, describing it as ‘zesty, focused, bright and vivid’.
Yohan Castaing (The Wine Advocate) called the wine ‘fleshy and broad with a rich aromatic palate’, scoring it 93-95 points.

Pricing analysis
Buyers looking for value among back vintages have several options.
The 96-point 2018 is available at £4,320 per case, a discount of 17.2% to today’s release and benefiting from four years in bottle.
Buyers may also be interested in the 94-point 2019 vintage, last traded at a 19.5% discount to today’s release price.
At 96+ points, the 2021 vintage of Mission Haut-Brion Blanc touts Neal Martin’s highest score of the last decade. It is available at £4,747 per case, a discount of 9.1% to today’s release.
