As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign Château Cantemerle 2023
has been released at €16.80 per bottle ex-négociant, a decrease of 19.0% on the 2022 release (€20.75).
It is being offered by the international trade for £198 per 12×75, a 25.6% decrease on the 2022’s opening price (£266 a case).

Critical Response
Neal Martin (Vinous) awarded the wine a barrel range of 87-89 points, praising its ‘attractive nose’ with ‘more fruit concentration than its peers.’ He caveats this with a lack of ‘ripeness right on the finish’.
Antonio Galloni (Vinous) scored the wine at 88-90 points, citing a ‘strong first impression’ from ‘dark plum, blackberry, mocha…and lavender.’ He also identifies the tannins as ‘a touch bruising at this stage’.
Jane Anson (Inside Bordeaux) gave the wine 92 points, calling it ‘old school in feel, finessed and not overly sleek’.
Jean-Marc Quarin gave the wine a score of 89 points.
Pricing analysis
Buyers interested in value back-vintage opportunities may consider the 2019, available at 4.0% discount to today’s release. Neal Martin awarded the wine 93 points (the highest of any in the last decade), praising a ‘really fabulous Cantemerle’ that ‘surely represents outstanding value’.
Fans of Antonio Galloni may be interested in the 2021. With 91 points from the critic, the wine is currently available £184 per 12×75, a 7% discount to today’s release.
