Y d’Yquem 2021 has been released on La Place de Bordeaux at €120 per bottle ex-négociant, up 17.7% on the 2020 release price (€102 per bottle).
The wine is being offered internationally for £1,440 per case, a 16.5% increase on the 2020’s opening price (£1,236 per 12×75).
The dry white wine from Château d’Yquem was released individually for the first time in 2021. Yquem’s Sauternes, Château d’Yquem 2020, was released through La Place in March 2023 at £3,180 per case. Yquem is the most traded white Bordeaux brand, although most of the activity surrounds the Sauternes.
Fair value analysis
No critic or publication has rated Y d’Yquem 2021 yet, but the new release is one of the cheapest on the market right now. The 2020 vintage comes at a discount to the new release and was rated 94 points by Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW (The Wine Independent).
Buyers might wish to consider the 2016 (92+ from the Wine Advocate), which has entered its drinking window, according to Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW.
The 2017 vintage, which has a current Market Price of £1,544 per case, was rated 98 points by James Suckling and 92 points by Neal Martin (Vinous).
