Pym-Rae 2019 has been released through La Place de Bordeaux at €245 per bottle ex-négociant, up 4.3% on the 2018 release price (€235 per bottle).
It is being offered internationally for £3,360 per 12×75, 3.7% higher than the opening price of the 2018 vintage (£3,240 per 12×75).
This is only the fourth vintage for the estate, which was founded by the late actor Robin Williams. In 2016, Pym-Rae was taken over by the Tesseron family, the owners of Château Pontet-Canet.
Fellow Napa Valley wine Maya Dalla Valle 2020 has also been released at €385 per bottle ex-négociant, 2.5% less than the 2019 release price (€395per bottle).
It is being offered internationally for £5,100 per 12×75, 8.6% below the opening price of the 2019 vintage (£5,580 per 12×75).
Critical response
Pym-Rae 2019 received 100 points from Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW (The Wine Independent). In her tasting notes she writes that ‘this 2019 is the vinous definition of opulence’. She further added that ‘this is the first vintage certified organic and biodynamic. Only about 20,000 bottles were made’.
Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW (The Wine Independent) also tasted Maya Dalla Valle 2020 and awarded the wine 97 points.
