As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, Château Pavie Macquin 2022 has been released at €67.20 per bottle ex-négociant, up 16.7% on the 2021 release (€57.60).
It is being offered by the international trade for £809 per 12×75, a 17.9% increase on the 2021’s opening price (£686 a case).

Critics’ scores
Neal Martin (Vinous) scored the wine 92-94 points. In his tasting note he said it’s ‘quite understated in style, I suspect it will spread its wings during its élevage’.
James Suckling awarded a barrel range of 95-96 points. In his tasting note he said ‘it’s full and polished with a flavorful and intense finish’. He added that it ‘could move up a notch’.
Jane Anson gave the wine an impressive score of 98 points, calling it ‘utterly compelling and beautifully concentrated’.

Buyers looking for value may want to consider the 2018 vintage. It was awarded 96 points by Neal Martin and is available at a 28.3% discount to today’s release.
The 94-point 2019 might also be of interest – it is also available at a discount of 28.3% to the 2022.
The 93-point 2014 and 2017 are also potential opportunities, available at discounts of 33.8% and 32.0% respectively to today’s release.
