Château Gazin 2022 released En Primeur

As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, Château Gazin 2022 has been released at €66 per bottle ex-négociant, up 19.6% on the 2021 release (€55.20 per bottle).

It is being offered by the international trade for £794 per 12×75, an 20.3% increase on the 2021’s opening price (£660 a case).

Critics’ scores

Neal Martin has not reviewed the 2022 Gazin.

William Kelley (Wine Advocate) awarded the wine a barrel range of 92-94+ points, lauding the ‘excellent depth at the core’, and deeming this ‘one of the better vintages for Gazin in recent years’.

Jane Anson (Inside Bordeaux) scored it at 94, calling it ‘an impressive wine’ that ‘has all the elements for ageing’.

Lisa Perrotti-Brown (Wine Independent) gave it a barrel a range of 92-94 points, praising its ‘impressive harmony’.

Fair Value analysis

There is no significant correlation between Gazin Market Prices and Neal Martin scores – the chosen critic for Liv-ex’s ‘Fair Value’ methodology.

Based on the chart above, buyers looking for value in back vintages might want to consider the 2019 vintage. The wine received 97 points from Neal Martin (Vinous) (the highest of the last decade) and is available at a discount of 24.4% to today’s release.

The 2018 and 2020 vintages might also be of interest, which are available at discounts of 19.0% and 24.7% to the 2022.
