Château Sociando-Mallet 2022 released En Primeur  

  • Château Sociando-Mallet 2022 has been released for £335.40 per 12×75.  
  • Neal Martin rated the wine 91-93 points, calling it ‘concentrated’ and ‘opulent’. 
  • Buyers looking for value might want to consider the 2017 and 2020 vintages.

As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, Château Sociando-Mallet 2022 has been released at €27.60 per bottle ex-négociant, up 21.1% on the 2021 release (€22.80).  

It is being offered by the international trade for £335.40 per 12×75, a 27.1% increase on the 2021’s opening price (£264 a case).  

The 2017 and 2020 vintages look better value in relation to today’s release. See more pricing analysis below.  

Critics’ scores  

Neal Martin (Vinous) awarded the wine a score of 91-93 points. In his tasting notes he mentions that his ‘only quibble is that it feels a tad abrupt on the finish’ and further adds ‘barrel maturation should address that’. 

Jane Anson gave the wine a score of 94 points and mentions that it is ‘one to look out for’. 

William Kelley (Wine Advocate) awarded the wine a barrel range of 92 to 94 points and notes that ‘readers who remember how this estate acquitted itself in years such as 2003 and 1990 will not be surprised by is quality in 2022’. 

Fair Value analysis  

Today’s release is coming to the market at a premium to others already in the market.   

Buyers looking for other options might want to consider the 2020 which was scored 93 points by Neal Martin and is available at a 29.3% discount to today’s release.  

The 2017 was also awarded 93 points by the critic and is available at £218 per 12×75 (-35.0%).
