As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, Château Grand-Puy Ducasse 2022 has been released at €29.50 per bottle ex-négociant, up 22.9% on the 2021 release (€24).
It is being offered by the international trade at a price of £378 per 12×75, a 31.3% increase on the 2021’s opening price (£288 a case).

Critics’ scores
Critics were mixed when it came to this year’s Grand-Puy Ducasse. James Suckling awarded the wine a barrel range of 96-97 points, noting its ‘power with elegance,’ and lauding it as ‘finally the best ever’.
Jeb Dunnuck scored it 93-95+ points and said it was ‘another Pauillac that shines for its purity and length’.
William Kelley (Wine Advocate) was slightly less impressed, scoring it 89-92 points and calling it a ‘youthfully structured effort that concludes with a somewhat drying finish’.
Neal Martin (Vinous) has not released a score for this year’s wine.
Fair Value analysis
There is no significant correlation between Grand-Puy Ducasse Market Prices and Neal Martin scores – the chosen critic for Liv-ex’s ‘Fair Value’ methodology.
Based on the chart above, buyers looking for opportunities among back vintages might want to consider the 2020 vintage. Neal Martin (Vinous) scored it at 93 points, noting it had ‘finally stepped up a gear’ and had a ‘much better backbone than recent vintages’. It is currently available at a discount of 33.9% to today’s release.
The lower-scoring 2018 and 2019 vintages are also available at discounts of 28.3% and 29.9% to today’s release, respectively.
