- The 2013 and 2015 vintages look good value among back vintages.
Château de Beaucastel Hommage à Jacques Perrin has released its 2020 vintage through La Place de Bordeaux.
The wine is being offered internationally for £2,800 per case of 12×75. There are back vintages with the same rating which offer relative value. See more pricing analysis below.
Critical response
The wine was scored 97-99 points by The Wine Advocate. Joe Czerwinski said: ‘Showing even more complexity and length than the regular bottling, there’s a chance this could reach a triple-digit score down the road.’
Jeb Dunnuck gave it a rating of 95-97+ points saying that the ‘deep, inky-hued 2020,’ ‘deserves a decade in the cellar’.
And Jane Anson scored it 96-points saying it ‘continues to set the bar for what Châteauneuf can do’.
Fair Value
The 2020 is the best-rated vintage of Hommage à Jacques Perrin by the Wine Advocate since the 99-point 2016.
The 2015 and 2013 vintages both have 98-points and are currently available in the market at discounts to the 2020.
Nonetheless, should the 2020 live up to Czerwinski’s suggestion of a 100-point score then this new release would represent better value versus current back vintages.
