Yesterday’s trading activity
Champagne remained core to trading On Tuesday and into Wednesday. Louis Roederer’s Cristal 2014 remained one of the top traded wines by value, alongside the 2002 vintage of Salon. Piper Heidsieck’s Rare 2008 and Dom Pérignon 2008 were among the top traded wines by volume.
Californian wines likewise remained in the spotlight, with Screaming Eagle 2014 and Kongsgaard Chardonnay 2019 finding the bid.

Meanwhile, several six-packs of Château Léoville Las Cases 2016 traded at £1,275 (£2,550 per 12×75).
Of the vintages 2005-2019, the 2016 has the best score from our Benchmark Critic, Neal Martin – 98-points. It is also the most expensive among those vintages, trading for £2,263 per dozen on average.
Four vintages are rated 97-points – the 2005, 2009, 2015 and 2019 – and of these, the 2015 is the cheapest with an average trade price of £1,515.
The 2016 has been the second most-traded vintage of Las Cases so far this year. Trade has in fact been led by the 2001 vintage.
The best-performing (post-2010) vintages of Las Cases over the last two years can be seen in the chart above. The 2014 has seen the biggest rise in price in that time, up 32.2%.
Despite its high price, the 2016 is up 19.6% over the last two years and is the second best-performer over the last one year, up 15.2%.
