As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, Château Troplong Mondot 2021 has been released at €72 per bottle ex-négociant, unchanged on the 2020’s opening price.
It is being offered by the international trade for £852 per 12×75. The 2011, 2012, 2014, 2018 and 2019 vintages look better value compared to today’s release. See more pricing analysis below.
Critics’ scores
Neal Martin (Vinous) awarded today’s release a barrel range of 93-95 points. He said that he was ‘full of admiration for this cerebral wine, though I wager that it will need several years in bottle’.
Antonio Galloni (Vinous) gave it 95-97 points and called it a ‘dazzling wine’, full of ‘energy and pure power’.
William Kelley (The Wine Advocate) rated it 93-96, noting that ‘the 2021 Troplong Mondot shows considerable promise’.
The wine also received 95 points from Jane Anson, and 90-92 from Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW (The Wine Independent).
Fair Value analysis

Buyers looking for value and bottle age might wish to look back at the 2011 and 2012 vintages, which have higher critic scores and cost less.
The similarly scored 2014 vintage also looks attractive and is available for a 25.6% discount to today’s release.
Buyers might also consider the 95-point 2018 and 96-point 2019 vintages which are available below £800 per case.
