As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, Château L’Evangile 2021 has been released at €180 per bottle ex-négociant, flat on the 2020’s opening price. Volumes released are down 40% on last year.
It is being offered by the international trade for £2,220 per 12×75. The 2006, 2007, 2012 and 2014 vintages look better value compared to today’s release. See more pricing analysis below.
Critics’ scores
‘A great success for this reenergised estate,’ wrote Neal Martin (Vinous). Both he and Antonio Galloni (Vinous) scored the wine 94-96 points.
The wine was scored 93-95 points by William Kelley (Wine Advocate), 91-93+ by Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW (The Wine Independent) and 94-points by Jane Anson.
Fair Value analysis
Buyers looking for value might want to look back at some of L’Evangile’s older vintages.
The 2006 is among the highest-scored vintages, with 96-points from Martin and at £1,325 per case. The 94-point 2007 vintage is available for £1,200 per case and similarly offers considerable bottle age.
The 2012 vintage also boasts 94-points from Martin and costs £1,280 per case. While, the 95-point 2014 presents another attractive alternative and is available at a 42.3% discount to today’s release.
