As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, Château L’Eglise-Clinet 2021 has been released at €210 per bottle ex-négociant, down 10.3% on the 2020’s opening price.
It is being offered by the international trade for £2,500 per 12×75. The 2012, 2014, 2017 and 2018 vintages look better value compared to today’s release. See more pricing analysis below.
Critics’ scores
Neal Martin (Vinous) said its palate was ‘built around elegance’ and that it had ‘an intangible sense of honesty’. He scored it 94-96 points.
Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW wrote in her report for The Wine Independent that it had ‘fantastic tension and density’. She gave it 91-93+ points.
William Kelley (Wine Advocate) awarded it a wide barrel range of 93-96 points.
Fair Value analysis
Today’s opening price comes at around a 31% premium to the price implied by Liv-ex’s Fair Value methodology. Buyers looking for value might be interested in the similarly scored 2012, 2014 and 2017 vintages, which are available for less.
Buyers might also consider the 97-point 2018 vintage, which comes at a 14% discount.
