- Château La Gaffelière 2021 has been released at £576 per 12×75.
- Neal Martin gave it a barrel range of 94-96 points.
- The wine looks relatively well priced in relation to recent vintages
As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, Château La Gaffelière 2021 has been released at €48 per bottle ex-négociant, equal to the 2020’s opening price.
It is being offered by the international trade for £576 per 12×75. Today’s release represents relative value compared to other recent vintages. See more pricing analysis below.
Earlier this month, La Gaffelière announced that it would be withdrawing from the next St-Emilion classification.
Critics’ scores
Neal Martin (Vinous) said the 2021 ‘continues a strong run for this estate’ and awarded it a score of 94-96 points.
‘Gallops out of the glass,’ said William Kelley (Wine Advocate) who gave it a rather higher 96-98 points.
Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW (The Wine Independent) likewise gave it a score of 94-96.
Fair Value analysis
Today’s release is available at a small discount to the 2020 and 2019 vintages. However, should it fall at the bottom end of Neal Martin’s barrel range (94-96), buyers might want to consider other options.
For example, the 2018 was scored 95-points by the critic and is available at a 3% discount to today’s release. While the 2019 was awarded 96-points and is available for a small premium.
