As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, Château Chasse-Spleen 2021 has been released at €21.95 per bottle ex-négociant, up 9.7% on the 2020’s opening price.
It is being offered by the international trade for £265 per 12×75. The 2020, 2019 and 2018 vintages are among those that look better value in relation to today’s release. See more pricing analysis below.
Critics’ scores
Neal Martin (Vinous) scored the wine 89-91 points who thought it ‘nicely balanced’ but ‘just a bit one-dimensional’.
William Kelley (Wine Advocate) gave it the same barrel range but thought it was ‘lively and refined’.
Fair Value analysis
Buyers looking for value might consider the 2020, 2019 and 2018 vintages. The 2020 and 2019 both have better scores than the 2021 and are available for £244 per case – 7.9% less than today’s release price.
The 2018 has the same score as the 2021 but is likewise available at a discount.
