As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, Château Canon La Gaffelière 2021 has been released at €54 per bottle ex-négociant, unchanged on the 2020’s opening price.
It is being offered by the international trade for £648 per 12×75. The 2019 and 2018 vintages look better value in relation to today’s release. See more pricing analysis below.
Critics’ scores
Neal Martin (Vinous) gave the wine a score of 91-93 points, saying it displayed ‘fine complexity’.
William Kelley (Wine Advocate) awarded a barrel range of 93-95 points adding it was ‘the highlight of the von Neipperg portfolio this year’.
Fair Value analysis
Several back vintages offer value in relation to today’s release. The 2019 vintage has a score of 94-points and a current Market Price of £573 (12×75).
The 93-point 2018 is available for £634 and the 94-point 2020 is also very slightly cheaper at £644 per dozen.
Other releases
The other wines from the von Neipperg portfolio; La Mondotte, Clos de l’Oratoire and L’Aiguilhe have also been released ex-négociant for €126, €24 and €12 per bottle respectively.
