As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, Château Branaire-Ducru 2021 has been released at €31.20 per bottle ex-négociant, unchanged on the 2020’s opening price.
It is being offered by the international trade for £370 per 12×75. The new release offers relative value in comparison to its back vintages. See more pricing analysis below.
Critics’ scores
The 2021 was scored 91-93 points by Neal Martin (Vinous) who said it was ‘quite a marine-influenced Saint-Julien’.
‘Undoubtedly a very pretty wine, even if not fully expressive at this stage,’ wrote Antonio Galloni who gave it 93-95 points.
Jane Anson gave it a score of 92-points and Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW’s (The Wine Independent) barrel range was 91-93 points.
Branaire-Ducru was also named as one of the top value wines in our recent Members’ Survey.
Fair Value analysis
Today’s opening price comes just under the line implied by Liv-ex’s Fair Value methodology.
Buyers looking for other wines might be interested in the 2020 vintage, which has a slightly better score and is still available for £372 per case.
The 94-point 2019 is also available for just over £400.
