As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, Château Ormes de Pez 2021 has been released at €18.60 per bottle ex-négociant, the same as the 2020’s opening price.
It is being offered by the international trade for £228 per 12×75. Today’s release offers good value given its Benchmark Critic score, but the 2019 vintage presents an attractive alternative among physical vintages. See more pricing analysis below.
Critics’ scores
Neal Martin (Vinous) awarded today’s release a barrel range of 91-93 points, describing it as ‘a stylish Saint-Estèphe’. He added that ‘it it perhaps more stylish than the Haut-Batailley at the moment’.
William Kelley (Wine Advocate) gave it 90-91 and said that the wine ‘produced by the Cazes family of Château Lynch-Bages […] shows promise’.
The wine also received 86-88 points from Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW and 93 points from Jane Anson.
Fair Value analysis
Today’s release presents good value, as it is among the highest scored Ormes de Pez vintages. Only the 2019 looks more attractive. It boasts the same score from Neal Martin and is available at a discount of 25.4%.
