As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, Château Monbousquet 2021 has been released at €35 per bottle ex-négociant, up 8% on the 2020’s opening price. Critics’ scores
Château Monbousquet 2021 received a barrel range of 88-90 points from Neal Martin (Vinous). In his tasting note, Martin explained that Monbousquet was the ‘only property impacted by frost’ and yields were ‘just 18.55hL/ha’.
Meanwhile, Antonio Galloni gave it 90-92 points, calling it ‘delicate, nuanced and classy’.
James Suckling also reviewed today’s release, awarding it 91-92 points.
Fair Value analysis
Today’s opening price comes at a premium to the price implied by Liv-ex’s Fair Value methodology. Buyers looking for value might be interested in the higher-scoring 2019, which is available for £347 (12×75), a 17.3% discount.
Buyers might also consider the 2014, 2015 and 2020 vintages. They all have a score of 91-points from Neal Martin and are available for around the same price as today’s release – with the 2014 and 2015 also having several years in bottle.
