Sassicaia 2019 enters the market
Sassicaia 2019 has been released in the UK at £995 per 6×75 (£1,990 per 12×75), a 10.6% increase on the 2018 release (£1,800).
The Wine Advocate’s Monica Larner awarded the wine 98-points, describing it as ‘one of the prettiest and most balanced editions of Sassicaia we’ve seen this past decade’. She explained that the 2019 ‘marries the precision of the 2016 with the rich fruit weight of the 2015’.
The wine has already seen demand on the secondary market. Current LIVE bids on Liv-ex are as high as £1,180 per 6×75. The wine last traded at £1,228 per half case, representing a 23.4% increase on its release price.
Fair Value opportunities
The wine offers plenty of value for those lucky enough to have secured an allocation at the release price. Most older vintages of Sassicaia are more expensive, bar the 94-point 2017, which has a current Market Price of £1,970.
Other vintages that offer good value based on their critic scores include 2013, 2014 and 2018.
The highest scored vintage of Sassicaia – the 100-point 2016 – commands a Market Price of £3,460 per 12×75.
