The 2018 vintage of Joseph Phelps Insignia was released this morning. James Suckling scored it 99-points, adding that it was “one of the best Insignias ever”.
The Wine Advocate rated it 97-points and with a release price of £1,956 per dozen, the new release looks pretty well pitched – though there is value to be had in older vintages.

Realm scores
The 2019 wines from another Napa Valley winery, Realm Cellars, have been kicking up a storm at Vinous and The Wine Advocate.
The latest wines garnered two 100-point scores from Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW and a cluster of 99-pointers as well.
The newest wine in the Realm portfolio, the Hartwell XX Cabernet Sauvignon, was scored 99-points by both Perrotti-Brown and Antonio Galloni.
“A dazzling wine, the XX may very well be the single most moving, expressive Cabernet I have ever tasted from Realm. I loved it,” said Galloni.
The winery’s Cabernet-led blend The Bard, has been the most traded US wine by volume on the Exchange so far this year. Among all US wines, the 2018 vintage is the most traded LWIN11 by volume and fourth most traded by value this year.
