Critical opinion
The wine has been scored 96-points by Jane Anson and James Suckling. Anson commented it was a “legendary wine with reason”, the 2019 having, “mouthwatering levels of black-berry and blueberry fruits, juicy and complex, plenty of tannins that close in on the finish”.
Suckling added it was, “very long and fresh with balance and purity. Give it five or six years to come around and show itself”.
Fair value
Hommage à Jacques Perrin has a history of receiving very high scores from The Wine Advocate. Neither that publication nor several others have reviewed the 2019 yet.
The scores of 96-points from Suckling and Anson are on the lower scale by comparison. Future ratings from WA or Rhône specialist Jeb Dunnuck may offer a different perspective.
The 2014 with 97-points, and 2012 and 2018 both with 99-points, all under £3,000 er dozen, look compelling options among back vintages.
