Critical opinion

The 2020 Haut-Brion Blanc received 94-96 points from Antonio Galloni and Neal Martin at Vinous.

“Weightless and nuanced, Haut-Brion Blanc is so striking,” said Galloni. Martin found it “excellent”, explaining that he noticed more “mineralité and tension on the finish” than in La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc.

James Suckling gave it 97-98 and revealed that the typical 50/50 blend was instead “72% Sauvignon and 28% Semillon” this year.

Jane Anson (Decanter) awarded it 96-points and added that the wine had, “Sauvignon-dominant flavours and aromatics of rosemary, mint, turmeric, lime blossom and steely citrus”.

Fair Value

The 2020 costs less than almost all vintages pre-2015 (bar 2008) but sits slightly above the most recent years.

The 2019 has one point more from Neal Martin and is the most affordable Haut-Brion Blanc of the lot.

The 2010 has the highest Benchmark Critic score of 98-points from Robert Parker and costs 10.9% more than today’s release.
