Critical opinion
The 2020 Léoville Barton received a barrel range score of 96-97 points from James Suckling who said it is “excellent, as expected.” Followers of Suckling will no doubt find value in today’s offer.
Meanwhile, Jane Anson (Decanter) awarded it 94 points but noted that it “may be up scored when in bottle”.
For Jancis Robinson MW, who gave it 18 points, the wine has “lovely, confident, persistent finish” and had, “such grace”. The wine also received a range of 94-96 from Falstaff.
Fair Value
In the context of previous vintages, today’s release would look well-positioned with a score of 95 points or upwards from Neal Martin (Vinous).
Alternatively, the 2015 looks attractive at £695 and boasting 95 points from Martin. The 2017 also offers good value for money with 94 points from Martin and currently available at 24.7% discount.
