The 2019 wines from Burgundian estate Marquis d’Angerville have been released. The key release from the domain is its Volnay Premier Cru, Clos des Ducs, which is being offered at £1,990 12×75 (£995 6×75) SIB.
Neal Martin scored the wine for Vinous in December last year, giving it an initial bracket of 96-98. He said it had, “a typically aristocratic nose” and was a, “voluminous Clos des Ducs that fills the mouth”.
William Kelley at the Wine Advocate gave it a spread of 94-96 and called it, “immensely promising”.
Taking those scores into account, the 2019 would appear to offer good value versus its back vintages, particularly if Martin were to settle on a final score of 97 or 98 at any future tasting.
Alongside the Clos des Ducs the domain’s selection of other 2019 Volnay, Pommard and Meursault Premier Crus were also released.
These were:
Volnay 1er Cru ‘Taillepieds’: £1,050 12×75 SIB
Volnay 1er Cru ‘Champans’: £1,050 12×75 SIB
Volnay 1er Cru ‘Les Caillerets’: £1,050 12×75 SIB
Volnay 1er Cru ‘Les Frémits’: £860 12×75 SIB
