The 2019 vintage from Domaine Leflaive, one of the most famous white Burgundy producers, has been released in the UK. According to Pierre Vincent, Managing Director, “intensity is the word” that best describes the wines. The year saw low yields, resulting in low volumes, especially compared to the “generous” 2018 vintage.
Domaine Leflaive, Chevalier Montrachet Grand Cru 2019 was released at £7,500 per 12×75, a 17.2% increase on the 2018 release price (£6,400), which has since risen 2.4% in value.
The wine is yet to be scored by mainstream critics, but the UK agent said in their tasting notes that the palate possesses “a silken, even seductive sweetness alongside a more mineral concentration and then, right at the end, that telltale flare of tightly controlled acidity and supreme length”.
Puligny Montrachet Clavoillon Premier Cru 2019 was released at £1,310 per 12×75, a 4.8% increase on the 2018 release price (£1,250). According to the UK agent, “simultaneously there is a lovely tension and concentration to the wine, a mouthwatering elegance, density and length”.
