While the year has not been without its challenges, some wines have yielded positive returns for investors over the past six months.
From Burgundy (which dominated the list of top risers in 2018), DRC Tache 2007 leads the way.
Italian wines, however, account for four of the top ten, having also featured heavily in the list of the most traded wines in 2020.
Sassicaia 2009 is ranked second, having risen 14.2% since January 2020. Another vintage of the Super Tuscan, the 2010 is up 12%, with Tignanello 2010 also increasing by 11.9%.
Giacomo Conterno, Barolo Riserva Monfortino 2000 has appreciated 8%. The 2013 vintage from the producer has been the most traded wine by value so far, as examined last week.
Three wines from Champagne also feature in the table below: Pol Roger, Sir Winston Churchill 2002, Louis Roederer, Cristal Rose 2009 and Perrier Jouet, Belle Epoque 2008. The Champagne 50 index is up 2.14% year-to-date, making it the best performing Liv-ex 1000 sub-index.
