Rauzan Segla 2019 has been released at €54 per bottle ex-negociant, down 25% on the 2018 release (€72). The wine is being offered by the trade for £684 per 12×75, down 24% on the 2018’s opening price of £900 per case and flat on the 2017.
The wine featured as a top mover (moved from 106th to 63rd place) in the 2019 Power 100.
Jane Anson (Decanter) awarded today’s release 96 points and called it “a serious Rauzan”, noting that “there is the precision of Rauzan Ségla that is reminiscent of the 2016, less of the immediate voluptuous impact of 2018 but the density becomes extremely clear in the glass”.
The wine also received 95 points from Jean-Marc Quarin and 17.5+ from James Lawther MW (JancisRobinson.com).
Today’s release is coming to the market below a number of acclaimed recent vintages such as 2015, 2016 and 2018. Buyers looking for physical stock at a discount might wish to consider the 2012 (RP 94+) available at £560 a case.
