Monbousquet 2019 was released at €30 per bottle ex-négociant, down 19.4% on the 2018 release price (€37.2). The wine is being offered at £365 per 12×75, a 18.9% discount from the 2018 release price of £450 a case.
James Suckling awarded the wine 93-94 points, calling it, “full and flavorful. Tannic and rich. Very intense.” Jeff Leve shared in the praise, awarding the wine 92-94 points, saying the wine is “much deeper, darker, and fleshier than other recent vintages.” Lisa Perrotti-Brown scored the wine slightly lower, 90-92, and noted the alcohol level was 14.55%.
A significant premium is paid for the more highly rated vintages of 2005, 2009 and 2010 but most of the past decade has seen vintages rest in the £350-400 range (where benchmark scores have not exceeded 91 points). A Neal Martin score of 92 or above would make the 2019 look like very good value but with anything less so, the newest release will likely rest amongst the most recent vintages.
