Leoville Las Cases 2019 has been released at €138 per bottle ex-negociant, down 23.3% on the 2018 release (€180). The wine is being offered by the international trade at £1746 per 12×75, a 19.6% decrease from the 2018 opening price of £2172 per case.
Neal Martin of Vinous awarded the wine a barrel range of 96-98, noting, “there is a clarity to this Grand Vin that places it amongst Jean-Hubert Delon’s finest releases in recent years and it is blessed with astounding length”.
James Suckling awarded the wine a 98-99. Antonio Galloni of Vinous gave a 94-96. Jane Anson (Decanter) a 98. Lisa Perrotti-Brown a (97-99)+ ,noting an ABV of 14.02%, important for American markets.
Prices for Leoville Las Cases have a 68% correlation to the ‘Benchmark Critic’ scores.
Today’s release comes to the market slightly below fair value for a 97-point wine. 2015, also scored 97 points, is at a 18% discount to the newest release. Buyers looking for value may also consider the 2009 and 2014.
