Issan 2019 has been released at €34.8 per bottle ex-negociant, down 23.7% on the 2018 release (€45.6). It is being offered by the trade for £438 per 12×75, down 22.3% on the 2018 release of £564 per case.
Today’s release received 93-95+ points from Jeb Dunnuck. James Suckling gave it 96-97 and said that this is “extremely racy, intense finish […] super precise. Classical”. Jeff Leve (The Wine Cellar Insider) also gave it 94-96 points.
Prices for Issan show 50% correlation to ‘Benchmark Critic’ scores. As seen in the chart below, a barrel range of 90-91 would make today’s release sit on the ‘Fair Value’ line. Followers of Suckling, Dunnuck and Leve could therefore easily find value in the 2019 vintage.
Other vintages to consider include the 2016 (NM 94), available at only a small premium.
