Clos Fourtet 2019 has been released at €66 per bottle ex-negociant, down 19.2% on the 2018 release (€81.6). The wine is being offered by the international trade at £840 per 12×75, down 16.7% on the 2018 (£1,008).
James Suckling awarded today’s release 95-96 points, noting that the wine has “a beautiful core of ripe fruit in the center palate with deep, dark-chocolate undertones”. Jean-Marc Quarin scored the wine 95 points, while Jeff Leve (The Wine Cellar Insider) a barrel range of 95-97.
Prices for Clos Fourtet show a strong correlation to critic scores. As seen in the chart below, 95 points would place the 2019 right on the ‘Fair Value’ line. Any higher, and the wine would represent good value.
Buyers looking for something with a bit of bottle age might wish to consider the 2012 (RP 95), available at £800 per case.
