Cheval Blanc 2019 has been released at €370 per bottle ex-negociant, down 29.9% on the 2018 (€528). Volume released are down a similar amount. The wine is being offered by the international trade at £4,500 per 12×75, down 31.7% on the 2018 (£6,588).
Cheval Blanc 2019 was among Jean-Marc Quarin’s top three wines, with a score of 98 points. Other critics are expected to release their assessments in the coming days.
Prices for Cheval Blanc show 84% correlation to critic scores. Based on today’s release price, a barrel range of 95-96 would place the wine on the ‘Fair Value’ line. Anything more and it represents good value.
Looking back at physical vintages, buyers might wish to consider the 2014 (NM 95) and 2011 (RP 95), available at 24.4% discount to today’s release.
Petit Cheval was also released this morning and is being offered at £1,500 per 12×75.
