Calon Segur 2019 has been released at €62.4 per bottle ex-négociant, down 13.3% on the 2018 release price (€72). The wine is being offered at £777 per 12×75, a 10.1% decrease from the 2018 release of £864 a case. Volumes released are down 5% on last year.
James Suckling awarded today’s release 95-96 points, describing the wine as “medium-to-full-bodied and subtle, yet structured.” Jean-Marc Quarin was slightly higher in praise, awarding 96-97.
Jeff Leve awarded the wine 96-98 points and noted the wine has an alcohol level of 14.5%, as he described was “a good thing so all my American friends can buy this beauty.”
Today’s release comes to the market at a similar price to 2016 opening price, which, as the current highest scored vintage, has risen over 20% since release.
