Petit Village 2018 has been released at €51.60 per bottle ex-negociant, up 2.3% on the 2017 release (€50.40). It is being offered by the trade for £633 per 12×75, up 3.4% on the 2017 release price of £612 per case.
Lisa Perrotti-Brown (Wine Advocate) awarded the wine 90-92+ points and said it “springs from the glass” and finishes with “soft-spoken freshness and fragrance”.
Antonio Galloni (Vinous) said it “offers striking depth and textural richness” and awarded 90-93 points. He added that yields for Petit Village were “about a third less than normal” this year, and that “mildew was an issue”.
James Suckling scored the wine an impressive 96-97 points. In his tasting note he said, “the fine-grained tannins kick in at the end” and that it was “very fresh and racy”.
Today’s release is coming to the market above a number of other recent vintages. Followers of Suckling will undoubtedly be excited by today’s release. For those perusing back vintages, the 2010 (RP 91) and the 2016 (NM 91) also look attractive.
