Monbousquet 2018 has been released at €37.20 per bottle ex-negociant, up 3.3% on the 2017 (€36). It is being offered by the trade for £450 per 12×75, down 1.7% on the 2017 release (£458).
Lisa Perrotti-Brown (Wine Advocate) awarded the wine 93-95 points and said it “sashays out of the glass with beautiful, flamboyant red roses”. James Suckling also thought it was “silky and oozing with finesse and class” and awarded 94-95 points.
Antonio Galloni (Vinous) scored the wine a slightly lower 89-92 points. Nevertheless, he said that the wine “has quite a bit to offer” and is “especially brooding”.
Prices for Monbousquet are 78% correlated to our ‘Benchmark critic’ series. For followers of Galloni, the wine is coming to market just above the line implied by our ‘Fair Value’ methodology.
Followers of Perrotti-Brown and Suckling, however, will no-doubt find value in today’s release.
Buyers looking for other options may want to consider the 2014, 2015 and 2016 vintages. All of which were scored 91 points by Neal Martin and are available at a discount to today’s release.
