Lynch Bages 2018 has been released at €90 per bottle ex-negociant, up 20% on the 2017’s opening price of €75. It is being offered by the trade for £1,068 per 12×75, up 7.3% on the 2017 price per case (£995).
Critical reception for this year’s Lynch Bages has been positive. Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW (Wine Advocate) awarded the wine 96-98 points, commenting on its “superb freshness supporting the generous black fruit layers”. James Suckling described today’s release as “incredibly powerful and structured” and gave it a barrel range of 97-98 points.
Antonio Galloni (Vinous) scored the wine slightly lower: a barrel range of 93-96 points. In his tasting note, Galloni said that “all the classic Lynch-Bages signatures are present, but amped up, with huge tannins and equally huge fruit”.
James Molesworth (Wine Spectator) was another critic to praise the wine, scoring it 96-99 points. For him, the 2018 Lynch Bages is “an extremely rock-solid wine in the making”.
Today’s release currently stands at a 5% discount to the similarly scored 2016.
