Lagrange 2018 has been released at €34.20 per bottle ex-negociant, up 14% on the 2017 release (€30). It is being offered by the trade for £420 per 12×75, up 13% of the 2017 release (£370) and equal to the 2016.
Antonio Galloni (Vinous) scored the wine 92-95 points and said that “the 2018 is one of the best recent vintages I have tasted”.
James Suckling gave a barrel range of 93-94 points. In his tasting note, he said it had “lavender and black-tea undertones” and was “long and caressing”.
Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW (Wine Advocate) awarded a slightly higher 93-95+ points and described the wine as being “full-bodied and jam-packed with black fruits and earthy accents”.
Today’s release is coming to the market above a number of recent vintages. Buyers looking for value may want to consider the 2016 which was scored 95 points by Neal Martin and is available at a similar price to today’s release.
The 2014 and 2015 vintages also look attractive.
