Duhart Milon 2018 has been released at €55 per bottle ex-negociant, up 14.6% on the 2017’s opening price of €48 and the same as the 2016. It is being offered by the international trade at £655 per 12×75, up 15.9% on the 2017 release (£565).
The critical response to the wine has been somewhat mixed. James Suckling awarded it 95-96 points and described it as “a very powerful Duhart”, asking if it “could be best ever?”. Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW (The Wine Advocate) scored it 93-95 points and said it was “the densest, most opulent Duhart [she has] tasted”.
Antonio Galloni (Vinous) agreed that “2018 Duhart-Milon is a dense, powerful wine” but gave it a lower barrel range of 88-90.
As our regression analysis shows, followers of Suckling and Perrotti-Brown might find value in today’s release. Duhart Milon prices are strongly correlated to critic scores.
Still, other vintages that look attractive are the 2014 and 2016 – both are currently cheaper, boast 93 points from Neal Martin and fall below the ‘Fair Value’ line.
