Liv-ex 1000 dips 0.3% in January

The Liv-ex 1000 index – the broadest measure of the market – dipped 0.3% in January to close the month at 362.2. The Liv-ex 100 also pulled back slightly this month (-0.02%).

The Liv-ex 1000 sub-indices were rather flat in January, as the chart below shows. The Italy 100 was the top riser, still only up 0.47%. It was pushed by relatively strong performances from some Gaja and Giacomo Conterno wines.

The Champagne 50, Bordeaux 500 and Rest of the World 50 indices also made some minor gains.

The Bordeaux Legends 50 was the weakest index, dropping 1.4%. The Burgundy 150, which remains the best-performing sub-index over one- and five-year periods, also dipped by 0.4%. You can read our in-depth report on Burgundy’s secondary market performance in French and English here.
