Welcome to the January 2019 Liv-ex newsletter
2018 has been the year of Burgundy. The region dominated this year’s Power 100 – our annual list of the world’s most powerful fine wine brands – and outperformed global equities (including luxury goods). But will the region be the best performer in 2019? Tell us your thoughts in our survey, here, and you could win a magnum of Grand Puy Lacoste 2005.

Burgundy report released
Earlier this week, we published our latest in-depth report, ‘Burgundy – in the spotlight’. In the report, we explore the development of the Burgundy market over recent years and the factors that influence price. You can read it here.
Automation
We’ve made some updates to how we share information on our automation services (APIs). If you’re interested in selling automatically on Liv-ex, extending Liv-ex offers to your customers efficiently, finding trading opportunities, or offering storage to your private clients, you find this information on our website. We also offer a very short guide to understanding APIs.
Webinar for developers – what to expect in 2019
Liv-ex Director of Data and Web Services, Neil Taylor, will be hosting a webinar for developers in early February. In it, Neil will give an overview of Liv-ex automation services, including a summary of our current APIs, and what to expect this year. To enable developers from multiple timezones to participate, two sessions will be held. You can find out more and sign up here. If you work with an external developer, please feel free to refer them.
James’ annual letter
In case you missed it, you can now read James’ annual letter online here. It offers a summary of all the changes Liv-ex has made in 2018 and our plans going forward. The letter also contains key information about 2019 price changes and is available in both French and Chinese.

Liv-ex in the news
December was a busy month for Liv-ex in the press. The Wall Street Journal and Financial Times looked at the best investments of 2018, while The Economist reported that amateur buyers of fine Burgundy fear a speculative bubble. You can find our December round-up of the press on our blog, here.
