December was a busy month in the press for the fine wine market. Several outlets picked up on its strong performance in 2018 compared to equities, with the Wall Street Journal commenting, “Who beat the market this year? Investors who like the finer things in life.”
The Financial Times focused on surging price movements for Burgundy, while The Economist warned of a possible speculative bubble for the region.
The 2018 Power 100 – the list of the most powerful brands in the fine wine world – and full analysis, was published the drinks business print edition. Wine News Italy and La Repubblica focused on Italian appearances in the list.
In France, Le Figaro produced a detailed report, with several charts, on the country’s great wines.
