Rauzan Segla 2017 has been released at €52.80 per bottle ex-negociant, a 12% decrease on the 2016 release price of €60. It is being offered by UK merchants for £648 per 12×75, down 11.5% in sterling terms on the 2016 release of £732 per case.
Critics have praised this year’s Rauzan Segla. Neal Martin, who awarded a score of 92-94, noted that the wine is “not the instant showstopper like the 2015 last year, this is more understated”. His colleague Antonio Galloni also praised the wine as “a classy, understated Margaux that hits all the right notes.” He awarded a score of 90-93 points.
It is being reported that volumes are 15% lower than last year.
Today’s opening price comes with a healthy discount to the price implied by Liv-ex’s fair value methodology, which might make it attractive to those with a keen eye for value. Buyers seeking a wine with a higher critic score could also consider last year’s vintage.
