Clos du Marquis 2017 has been released at €34.80 per bottle ex-negociant, down 12.1% on the 2016’s release price of €39.6. It is being offered by the trade at £426 per 12×75.
At this price, is offered at a slight discount to some of the recent ‘great’ vintages, but above the majority of others. The 2012 and 2014 both look attractive in comparison.
Critic scores for this year’s wine are mostly in the low 90’s. Neal Martin scored it 90-92 for Vinous, noting its, “impressive density … if not the detail, the precision of last year’s wine”. His colleague Antonio Galloni commeted that, “The flavors really sizzle … I can’t wait to taste it from bottle”. He scored it 90-93.
