Overall critics have been impressed with this year’s Cantemerle. Neal Martin (Vinous) commented that is has “quite a sultry bouquet” and awarded 88-90 points. Lisa Perrotti-Brown (The Wine Advocate) agreed that “it is elegantly expressed and finishes with beautiful harmony”. She scored the wine 89-91 points.
Prices for Cantemerle are not closely correlated to critic scores. Instead they follow the traditional pricing pattern for fine when where vintages appreciate in price with the passing of time, as the chart below shows. As a result, buyers might have hoped for the new vintage to enter the market priced below others.
