Beychevelle 2017 has been released at €52.80 per bottle ex-negociant, down 6.7% on the 2016 price of €56.60. It is being offered by the international trade for £650 per 12×75, a decrease of 4.1% in sterling terms on the 2016 release of £678 per case.
Neal Martin, of Vinous, awarded of score of 90-92 points but noted that he would “like to see a little more restraint come through in bottle”. His colleague Antonio Galloni’s praise was more effusive, he called Beychevelle 2017 “absolutely gorgeous” and gave a score of 92-95 points.
Beychevelle escaped last year’s frost and this year’s vintage yielded 54hl/ha. Today’s release of £650 is the lowest price available for any recent vintage of Beychevelle, which could make today’s offer attractive, especially for buyers in Asia where the wine is widely followed.
