The Liv-ex Fine Wine 100 – the industry benchmark – closed February on 312.16, down 0.1% on the previous month. This is the third consecutive decline for the index. It also fell in December and January, though each month the declines have been small.
The top movers in February were from a variety of regions: Rhone, Burgundy, Bordeaux and Italy. The top two risers were Beaucastel, Chateauneuf Du Pape 2012 and Armand Rousseau, Chambertin 2012, both up 6.1%.
Pavie 2010, which has 100 points from Robert Parker, was also among this month’s risers, up 4.2%.
Once again, Beaucastel, Hommage J Perrin was among the fallers. It also fell 4.3% in January. Palmer 2009 was the biggest faller, down 6.8%.
