Activity on the market this week was focused on high value wines: while the value traded rose 42%, volume dropped 25% on the previous week. Bordeaux’s share was stable, though it remained below last year’s average of 69% by value.
The USA’s market share touched 6.2% thanks to a large parcel of Dominus 2014 finding the bid. It was one of the week’s most traded wines.
The 100-point (RP) Pavie 2010 was among this week’s top traded wines. The lower-scored 2011 (RP 95+) was also active. It traded at an all-time high of £2,041 per 12×75 this week.
Lisa Perotti-Brown on Bordeaux 2015
Several critics have now come out with scores for the Bordeaux 2015s including Jeb Dunnuck, Jane Anson and James Suckling. Lisa Perotti-Brown, now the official Bordeaux reviewer for the Wine Advocate, released hers yesterday.
Perotti-Brown awarded three perfect scores, to Cheval Blanc, Haut Brion and Petrus. She is the first to award Haut Brion a perfect three-digit score. Shortly after her report was published, the wine traded at £5,550 per 12×75, an 18% increase on its trade price the previous day.
Antonio Galloni is due to release his scores for the vintage imminently. The Wine Advocate will publish Neal Martin’s Bordeaux 2015 in-bottle scores next Wednesday.
