- Half term holidays and Chinese New Year reduce market activity
- Bordeaux trade share up for second week in a row, Rhone 2015s trading well
- Bordeaux vintages in focus: 2014 Southwold tasting plus 2008 retrospectives from Jane Anson and Neal Martin
With both half-term holidays in the UK and Chinese New Year falling in the same week, market activity has been somewhat muted.
Trade tastings of both the 2008 and 2014 vintages have brought Bordeaux back into focus. Subsequently, the region’s market share has risen for the fourth week in a row.
Rhone 2015s continue to trade well following high scores from Jeb Dunnuck. Pegau CNDP Reservée 2015, which Jeb Dunnuck awarded 95-97 points, was the most active Rhone wine.
Bouchard Pere et fils Romanée 2001 was this week’s most traded wine thanks to a large parcel coming to market.
Neal Martin 2008
On Thursday Neal Martin published his first report for Vinous. The table below highlights the two most significant score changes. Pavie 2008 is going on quite a journey in the wrong direction, falling from a 94 in barrel to an 89 when most recently tasted.
Chinese New Year
Fans and followers of the Chinese zodiac might be interested to learn of the performance of First Growths from ‘dog’ (the zodiac symbol, not the quality) vintages. Unsurprisingly the 1982 vintage has done rather well.
Liv-ex also examined eight wines with good messages for Chinese New Year.
