Liv-ex Newsletter – July 2017

By July 10, 2017Member updates

Welcome to the July 2017 Liv-ex newsletter
With En Primeur now behind us, analysis on Liv-ex Insights will return to its usual schedule, posting updates from a broad range of regions. We recently published a spotlight on Masseto, and for the first time ever, this year’s Liv-ex Classification will include wines from beyond Bordeaux.

Wine Matcher now available
Wine Matcher, the award-winning artificial intelligence tool for the wine trade, was launched this month. Wine Matcher is a web-based tool that can clean and price up to 5,000 lines of data per minute. This enables you to match your list to LWIN, download pricing information and upload bids and offers to Liv-ex.

You can view our animated introduction to the tool here. Please contact your Account Manager to find out how to get set up today.

Bordeaux 2016 – hit and miss
Liv-ex’s concluding report on Bordeaux 2016 was published in June. In this short study, we conclude the En Primeur season for this year by looking at the wines that appear to be most overvalued or undervalued according to Liv-ex’s fair value methodology. You can download the report here.

Liv-ex 2017 Classification
The fifth Liv-ex Classification has now been calculated. Using the same methodology as the famous 1855 classification, Liv-ex has ranked top investment grade wines by price. For the first time, this year’s list will include wines from regions beyond Bordeaux. You can find part one – wines of the Left Bank – here. The Right Bank, second wines and rest of the world classifications will appear on Liv-ex Insights this week.

Changes to bid/offer notification emails
The email notifications for new best bids and offers will soon become more relevant to you. The number of emails that you receive will be reduced: You will only be notified when new bids and offers are close to your own position. The percentage change in the new bid/offer will be also be highlighted.

You can also receive notifications of new best bids and offers directly into your system via an API. For more information please visit Liv-ex Developers or contact your Account Manager.

The data team is pleased to welcome Theodora Moscalu who will be helping maintain the quality of Liv-ex’s data and reporting. Theodora previously worked in construction, where she was involved in project management for Crossrail and Network Rail. Before that she studied at University College London, graduating in 2015.
